A depleted Betws VX faced a much changed Furnace XV in a game the home team had to win to have a chance of avoiding relegation at the end of the season. Furnace started off with a bang and by the 12th minute had scored two converted tries to give them a deserved 14-0 lead. Betws were slow getting into their rhythm but got into the game in the 20th minute when wing Dan Thomas went over with Daniel Griffiths adding the conversion. On the half-hour, Furnace went over for their 3rd try which they failed to convert, but Betws replied on half time when speedy wing Ashley Evans went over for an unconverted try, making it 19-12 to the home team at half time. Fifteen minutes into the second half, winger Dan Thomas scored his second try with a smart interception, but the conversion effort failed. Ten minutes later, Furnace scored again with a converted try and went further ahead five minutes later with a penalty. Just before the end, Furnace made the game safe with a further converted try but Betws refused to give in and scored their 4th when Ashley Evans again went over. Griffiths converted and the game ended 36-26 in Furnace's favour with Betws pleased to get the bonus point for their 4 tries.
