Betws achieve 3rd straight win

Betws, looking for a 3rd straight win, fielded a strong, young side and were seeking revenge after a poor show down in Trimsaran at the start of the season. The visitors had the wind and the slope in the first half, but it was the home team that took the lead from the boot of of outside-half Daniel Griffiths who had missed with an earlier effort. Trimsaran hit back with a good try from their speedy full back after sloppy tackling out wide. This seem to galvanize the young home side and they retook the lead with a 60 metre try scored by wing Ashley Evans after a kick ahead by Steffan Howells. Griffiths missed the conversion but landed another penalty to make the score 11-5 at the break. Betws then controlled the game and a superb training ground move saw full back Steffan Howells score in the corner. It looked like a bonus-point win was on the cards after Trimsaran were reduced to 14 men with a yellow card and Betws scored again with a try from the dependable No 8 Gareth Comley, with Griffiths converting both tries. Trimsaran then staged a mini comeback with a good rolling-maul try and were then granted a dubious penalty try but to no avail as Betws held out to win 25 -19 in a game they could and should have won by more.
